If you don’t enjoy it, but the kids do, delegate. No one should craft because they have to, and that includes you. Because yeah, permanent means exactly what you think it means. And when somebody else slips and gets black Sharpie on a beloved pale pink sweatshirt ( after the first freak out,teary,borderline-hysteria, response ) you learn about embroidering a butterfly over the splotch. And when somebody- inevitably- eventually-glues themself to a table you get some warm water and learn all about how to un glue yourself from a table. Developing fine motor skills, color sense and style preferences all happen- inevitably - eventually- through doing. A crafting session is about improvisational stream of consciousness exploration. And with littles the absolute ONLY thing that matters is the process. Unless this is about some kind of homework assignment with a hard deadline why would you ever think there was a need to stay on task? For one thing, crafting should never feel like a task for anyone, no matter what age. My first thought is that perhaps you should let someone else tap in. Regarding kids and crafting, while I do not know the specifics of your situation,i.e ages and number of kids, I am wondering about that phrase “keep them on task”. It hit home with me b/c crafting with kids in a children’s hospital is all I’ve done for the last 20 years. I get your newsletter in my email, and the one that came today included a request for a response about crafting with kids. We’d like to know, what do you love about Fall?
